For premises within the scope of the Fire Safety Order, checking and maintenance should be informed by the fire risk assessment and the condition and use of the doors. In England, multi-occupied residential buildings over 11 metres must also have quarterly checks of common-part fire doors and best-endeavours annual checks of flat entrance doors under Regulation 10.

No. A routine check is intended to identify obvious damage or operational issues, such as a door that does not self-close. A detailed survey considers the complete doorset, available evidence, gaps, seals, glazing, hardware, frame, interfaces and repairability. A visual check does not replace a competent inspection where one is required.

Many defects can be repaired where the door's condition and available certification support an approved maintenance route. Other doors may require further evidence or replacement. FireX validates each defect and recommends repair, component replacement, further investigation or full doorset replacement as appropriate.

The agreed handover may include door or asset references, before-and-after photographs, measurements and functional checks, product or component information, completed-work status, access and exception notes, and certification where the work falls within an applicable third-party scheme.

Intrusive opening-up may be required where construction is concealed. Findings are normally location-linked and supported by photographs and prioritised recommendations.

No. FireX's duct-related service is limited to fire dampers: installation, surveys and servicing. We also review the damper's access provision and interface with the fire-resisting wall or floor within the agreed scope.

The appropriate frequency depends on the damper type, manufacturer information, building fire strategy, risk assessment, environment and applicable maintenance guidance. FireX can help identify assets, establish a servicing programme and report defects, access restrictions and compartment-line concerns.

FireX holds BM TRADA Q-Mark certification for fire stopping installation, fire door installation and fire door maintenance, and is a certified installer of FIREFLY fire-barrier systems. Current scheme scope and project-specific certification can be confirmed before appointment.
