Ongoing FRA remedial works for Saxon Weald
An ongoing £1m+ programme of FRA remedial works, fire door upgrades and fire stopping for Saxon Weald. FireX completed more than 3,000 actions during 2025 - 2026 across occupied properties, combining follow-up surveys, approved remedial works and reactive fire door repairs within a multi-year working relationship.

About the client
A housing association with a regional portfolio.
Established in 2000, Saxon Weald is a housing association managing close to 7,000 homes across Sussex and Hampshire. Its housing includes affordable rented and shared ownership homes, together with accommodation for people aged over 55. This describes the association’s wider portfolio; FireX’s work is commissioned through individual surveys, approvals and remedial packages.
Project requirement
The challenge.
Saxon Weald commissions fire risk assessments that identify actions and recommendations across its occupied housing. FireX is then asked to investigate relevant findings, carry out follow-up surveys where needed and complete approved work packages. The properties include general-needs homes, assisted-living accommodation and retirement/care homes, so access, resident communication and coordination with scheme staff are central to delivery. Planned FRA works also need to be managed alongside reactive fire door repair requirements.
Delivery control
How the work was managed.
FireX has worked with Saxon Weald for several years and continues to support its fire-safety programme. The team carries out surveys following recommendations in the FRA reports, confirms the proposed remedial scope and completes the works approved by the client. Delivery includes fire door upgrades, repairs and replacement, fire stopping and reactive fire door repairs where required. Works are coordinated with Saxon Weald’s fire safety teams, scheme managers and residents around the occupied properties. More than 3,000 actions were completed during 2025 - 2026; further surveys, approvals and remedial works remain ongoing.
