Sheltered housing hostel case study
Fire door upgrades at Will Perrin Court, Rainham
A £75,000+ client-led door upgrade programme for Havering Council at Will Perrin Court, a sheltered housing hostel in Rainham. FireX replaced four riser doors, 16 cross-corridor doors and 12 communal doors over three weeks while the property remained occupied, alongside electrical-riser fire stopping and an office door entry system.

Project requirement
The challenge.
Havering Council required door upgrades at Will Perrin Court on Guysfield Drive, Rainham. The property remained occupied throughout the works, so the programme needed to account for staff, residents and the routes used to move through and leave the building. The replacement scope covered riser, cross-corridor and communal doors. Floor levels at cross-corridor openings also needed attention to achieve the required door clearances, while the electrical riser and new office door brought additional fire-stopping and access-control interfaces into the work package.
Delivery control
How the work was managed.
FireX completed the programme over three weeks, replacing four riser doors, 16 cross-corridor doors and 12 communal doors. Floor levelling at the cross-corridor openings formed part of the installation work to achieve the required threshold clearances and suitable door operation. The team also installed fire stopping in the electrical riser and a door entry system to the newly installed office door. Works were planned in liaison with staff and residents, coordinating the work sequence, access and escape-route arrangements while the building remained occupied. BM TRADA door installation and fire-stopping installation reports were provided to the client at handover.
